Alaska and Yukon Video Festival March 12, 2010
The first annual
Southeast Alaska and Yukon Winter Video Festival will be
held in conjunction with this years Back Country Bash and
Ball March 13th, 14th and 15th in Skagway. There will be
a movie about backcountry skiing called "The Fine Line"
on Friday night, March 12th from 4-7 pm.
Sgt Preston's
Lodge is offering special prices for this event: $60 single
and $70 double plus tax (no pets) this weekend only!

Buckwheat Ski Classic
March 27, 2010
There will be
50K, 25K and 10K cross country ski races, as well as a 5K
kids race. All races take place at Log Cabin on the South
Klondike Highway, and there are pre-and post-race events
in Skagway, Alaska, including a fabulous awards banquet
and dance at the historic Eagles Hall.
The Buckwheat in 2005 was named one of the top 49 things
to do in Alaska by the editors of Alaska magazine. The race
is a fund-raiser for the Skagway Ski Club and traditionally
hosts more than 200 participants from Alaska, the Yukon
and elsewhere.
Registration forms
may be dropped off at the Skagway and Whitehorse locations
or mailed directly to Buckwheat Ski Classic, Box 636, Skagway,
AK 99840. Early registration deadline is March 15. Registrations
received after that date cost an additional $10.
Annual
Fran Delisle Cancer Awareness Walk - June 2010
Walk or sponsor
a walker to walk from Dyea to Skagway on the road with friends
and neighbors. Funds raised go to support local medical
needs of community. The walk on Saturday is followed by
a lunch at the Elks for participants. Sponsored by the Skagway
Emblem Club #111 and the Eagles Auxiliary #25.

Elks Summer Solstice Party - June 2010
This fun event
happens at the ball fields across the river from town. Everyone

Day Parade and Street Fair - July 4, 2009
Our July 4th celebration
has been history making since Soapy Smith rode at the head
of our first parade in 1898. Fireworks on night of July
3rd, then an old fashioned family fun day with races, ontests,
and events for all to enjoy. Events include Slow Bike race,
Pie Eating contest, Horseshoe ournament, and Egg Toss.

Flower
and Garden Show - August 8-10, 2010
Skagway is by official
state declaration the “Garden City of Alaska". This
annual three day event at AB Hall showcases the variety,
size and beauty of Skagway 's gardens and flower adorned
businesses.

Klondike International
Road Relay - September 10-11, 2010
The race starts Friday afternoon and continues all night
along the road. This 110 mile relay race that egins in Skagway,
Alaska ends in Whitehorse, Yukon Saturday afternoon. Teams
of 10 members from all over the world compete in this event.

Yuletide
& Santa Train - December 2010
Skagway's
Yuletide activities in December include the White Pass Santa
Train followed by the annual Yuletide Ball at the Recreation
Center in the evening. Many additional activities and contests
in town.
From
dancing to shopping to just walking around an old gold rush
town, Yuletide is a fun time for locals and visitors alike.
