Northern Lights

From the Roman Aurora, goddess of the dawn to the Inuit Alaskan belief of animal spirits roaming the heavens, legends abound about the magic of the Northern Lights. You need only glimpse them once to understand why they have enchanted humans for millennia.

The bright dancing lights of the aurora are actually collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth's atmosphere. Aurora forecast websites predict the chances of the Aurora happening. The skies have to be dark and clear enough for you to see them when they occur, so if you get a clear night, bundle up & go outside to take a look. Even if you don’t spot the lights, the stargazing is worth the time!
